I read a lot, in case you haven’t picked up on that yet. And I absolutely love sinking my teeth into a nonfiction read about an issue I’m interested in.

Podcast episodes are great. Think pieces are fine. But books can so often give us more context and data to chew on, helping us see a fuller picture than a Buzzfeed listicle or Instagram square. Books take our time and mental energy, but they actually help clarify our thoughts, and present arguments in a way that can actually lead to meaningful change.

So often I hear from women who see the problems bubbling under our society’s surface but feel disenchanted with the solutions being offered by politicians and thought leaders. The books provided here offer ways of seeing the world + responding to it that feel fresh, not hash-tagged.

Do all of the books on this list agree with one another? No. Are they all written from a Catholic (or even faith) perspective? No. But they’re all interesting, thoughtful, and compelling. They’ve all changed my mind about an important topic. And they’ve all helped shape my intellect.

As a reminder, I’m not going to use affiliate links on these bookish posts because I think the best way to support the literary world is to purchase from your own local, independent bookstore. ThriftBooks or the library are other great options! If you prefer audiobooks, Libro.fm connects with your local indie and has great prices.

With that being said, here are 10 Books on Societal Issues Every Catholic Feminist Should Read, According to Exactly One Catholic Feminist (ie., me).
