My friends,
Remember when a couple of months ago I announced we were doing our Advent fundraiser in, um, August? And remember when I had a fingers-crossed-prayers-said goal for 10K by September? And remember when you guys PASSED our goal in 12 hours?
It was awesome.
I recently heard via my friend Rebecca that the roof for Hogar Tata Juan de Dios was successfully built before the rainy season. She also passed along a note from Sr. Rosa, one of the sisters who runs the orphanage.
From Sr. Rosa: “The Father Juan de Dios home is a shelter for children under 6 years old who find themselves in various situations such as physical and psychological violence, malnutrition, orphanhood, and total or partial abandonment by one of their parents. On behalf of the children in the home, I want to express my infinite gratitude through you to the Catholic Feminist group who made it possible to raise funds for the renovation of our severely deteriorated infrastructure. As a home, we are very happy for such a noble gesture. We also pray that God blesses each family that contributed to the well-being of our children.”
And from me: I will never be able to express how blown away I’ve been by your generosity through the years. Truly. Every single time I make a request, be it for prayers or book purchases or fundraising, I feel like I have such an army of people saying “heck yes”. I’m a solopreneuer; I’m currently in an oversized Packers sweatshirt and torn leggings on my living room couch, typing while my littles are at school. I don’t have an assistant, or a team. I don’t even have a cleaning lady. Hell, I often don’t even have a babysitter. But I am so far from being alone in any sense of the word. My job, writing these words and seeking connection with other faithful feminists, has brought me to a group of women (and some great men!) who inspire me every single day. In this corner of the internet we have not, in the words of Mother Teresa, forgotten we belong to each other.
You are a light in this world, reflecting the True Light. Jesus loves you. So do I.
In Him Through Her,
Claire
Love ❤️
