It feels like everyone I know right now is pregnant. I’m only slightly exaggerating here. Not one, not two, but five of my dearest friends are with bebe. My sister-in-law is going to pop any day. I mean, even Rihanna’s in on the action.

I was very, very unlucky while pregnant for the first time: I suffered from a debilitating condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. I’ll spare you the details because they involve a lot of barf.

I was also very, very lucky while pregnant for the first time: I was (still am) married to a software engineer who made enough to support our family and I had enough contacts to launch a side hustle as a freelance writer. I peace’d out of my cubicle and never looked back.
