When I was a campus missionary (for a program I loved and still love), there was quite the to-do one summer over tank tops.
Summer training took place in Ave Maria, Florida. One time I made the entire town of Ave Maria by writing a scathing satirical blogpost about their lack of grocery stores, but that’s a tale for another day. Today it’s the story of how a first year male missionary had the audacity—dare I say the cojones—to go into the summer training Facebook group and write a post blasting the female missionaries for wearing tank tops to Mass.
In 102 degree weather.
In Florida.
Now, I’m fine having a conversation about appropriate Mass attire. It’s not something I have a strong opinion on and I think we’d all be better off if we just focused on our own clothes, but whatever. The point is, instead of having some kind of larger conversation about Mass wardrobes (for both genders), this first year thought it was a better idea to go on Facebook and yell at a bunch of young women for distracting him during Mass.
