You could be forgiven for thinking we’re living in an era of feminist men.

After all, so many men are showing just how Really Really Great They Are online—Instagram reels of them selflessly driving girlfriends to abortions; photos of themselves waving signs to support sex workers. These are men who’ve carefully crafted an identity as an ALLY—the “right kind” of man, who knows the proper hashtags and hills to die on.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with desiring to be virtuous. I desire to be virtuous—so do you, hopefully. There’s not even anything wrong with sharing those efforts online, if it’s done with a humble heart. I don’t read hearts, so for all I know, these men are earnestly trumpeting their “feminist” chores online as an educational tool. The problem is that these acts they’re insisting are good for women are actually, um.

Good for them.

Because who does it benefit most when abortion is free, legal, and on every corner?

Who does it benefit most when hormonal contraception allows for consequence-free sex?

Who does it benefit most when women are harassed, pressured, and forced into selling their bodies, then given legal “protection” by smarmy politicians who benevolently, breathlessly insist its all in the name of women’s freedom?
