In October of 2023, I was sitting at a hotel bar in Krakow with a gaggle of fiery feminists. We were talking about one person’s dress, one person’s veterinary school classes, and one person’s next trip to Europe. We were also talking about how overpriced our cocktails were (don’t mess with me, Mariott; I know Poland prices!!!) and arguing about the legacies of Benedict vs. JP2. We were attempting to piece together what was going on with the current Polish election and also comparing it to our own shitstorm of a political mess stateside. I think it was at that point when our guide turned to me and said, clear as a bell, “Your group is…very different. Fun! But very different.”
It’s true.
Catholic Feminist pilgrimages are not your average pilgrimages. We span age ranges, political parties, and opinions in the ballot box. We have lots of time for prayer, conversation, and plain old companionship.
This isn’t the trip where you awkwardly hang in the corner or get whisked from one activity to the next. We can go from talking Jesus to justice to jeans within a matter of minutes. We love a glass of wine. And we walk away with hearts sturdied for the journey ahead, whatever it may bring.
We still have a few spots available for our autumn trip to Provence, on The Way of Mary Magdalene. Join us from October 14-23, 2025. Just a few highlights I’m looking forward to:
Collégiale Royale Sainte-Marthe, a collegiate church that houses the relics of Saint Martha, the sister of Mary Magdalene
The Rock of Penitence, where Mary Magdalene prayed and was raised up by angels
The Cathedrale Sainte-Anne in Apt, which houses the remains of Saint Anne, the mama of Mary Mother of God
Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, where we can pray in front of relics of Mary Magdalene
The asylum where Vincent Van Gogh lived
Wine tasting, village wondering, and gift shopping
Sitting around the hotel bar with an overpriced cocktail and you, telling me your story, face to face.
“Best. Decision. Ever! I found myself surrounded by the most amazing and welcoming, loving, like-minded women, and suddenly I had found a new group of favorite people. We are still all in touch, and have made a lasting sisterhood and prayer community. It’s just what the Holy Spirit had ordered for me, and what I had been praying for, without even knowing it.” - Beth, 2021 pilgrim
Can I promise you this trip will change your life? No. All I can tell you is my own experience: that I’ve walked away from the first two rounds of the Catholic Feminist pilgrimage with my eyes set on God, more confident in my Catholic femininity, with a whole bunch of phone numbers in my contacts that I still text to this day.
See you there?!
In Him Through Her,
Claire
