This is such a lovely read! And yes, I very much intend to marry someone who can make a margarita. I'm taking recommendations too lol

I’m new(ish) to this sub stack and really enjoyed this post. I’m convicted by #24 and want to retweet #26 a thousand times. Happy birthday!

Claire, aside from various books, the Bible and the catechism (I’m not yet a Catholic but SO excited to join in November) I’m only reading Tsh’s and your Substack articles. Thanks for your ideas and your courage to write them. Your articles are thought-provoking and I feel like you’re a friend even though we’ve never met. (That’s better than counting a tv actor among one’s friends, right?) Anyway, wanted you to know that the three books you mentioned in #16 are literally my last three reads. That seems so uncanny! Sure hope we get to meet someday! Maybe on one of Tsh’s pilgrimages!? One can hope and pray. ;) Happy Birthday! Hope it’s a blessed year.

I second the reading of children's books! I realized that when times go by that Lee is putting the boys to bed and reading them their books that I miss it! Not only for the quality time but genuinely for the stories! My Father's Dragon never gets old.

Thank you for the nod to Abigail Favale; I inhaled Into the Deep a couple years ago, and I love that she just popped up again (for me)! Thanks also for these 31 things; they are at once profound and pragmatic. 😊

Happiest birthday, Claire! Love this post. Have you read Cloud Cuckoo Land? There's a riddle in the book that made me think of your intro: "He that knows all that Learning ever writ, knows this." Answer: nothing. (BTW, great book if you haven't read it!!)

I need to--I just finished FOUR SEASONS IN ROME by Anthony Doerr and LOVED it, so I have a feeling I'm about to embark on a Doerr binge!
