1. Can’t tell you how much I love “what’s on my nightstand” … rarely an issue goes by that I don’t read the majority and share just as many with siblings and friends. The Taliban article was so powerful and a sobering reminder 12 months later

2. As such…. Am I crazy or does the link to the algorithmic anxiety lead to an article for a separate issue?? I want to read it so badly!

yeah, it's the wrong link! Although, funny enough, the one it links to (Pursuing The Reunification Of Home And Work by Erika Bachiochi) was one of my favorite recent reads..... and I also just completed her book "The Rights of Women" which any reader of this newsletter would appreciate! :')

I am so glad you shared this today. I’ve been trying to “find Mary” for years since I joined a charismatic prayer group. I “figured out” the rosary for the first time- but am still working to love it.

I also feel like I’ve unintentionally put (what I assumed to be) your relationship with God on a pedestal since your podcast days. Not just you of course- everyone who I thought of as more “spiritually mature” than me - knowing that we all can go through droughts… well it helps a girl put things into perspective as I’m going through my own.

Lastly, I feel like I’ve just been putting one foot in front of another these days- and within the past 18 hours have called Jesus my “buoy” several times… oh I love these small moments of mercy where He reminds me He’s at work.

Virtual hugs to you. I’m routing for you & yours!!

I don't really think spiritual maturity works in a linear line, to be honest. There are days I feel like Jesus + I have never been closer and days where I feel like I need some 2nd grade VBS or something. Small moments of mercy + grace are definitely what keeps us chugging along!

Love this reflection on Mary. I've often turned to her in times of spiritual/emotional/general turmoil when I'm having trouble with God. Above all, Mary wants us to be reconciled with God and to be healed. I have so much peace knowing that she can and will intercede for me and ultimately help me back to her Son.

Have you read "Stolen Focus" by Johann Hari? Based on your recent recommended articles, I think you'd find it really interesting.

The painting of the Madonna is “Lady of Regla” by Harmonia Rosalesz https://www.harmoniarosales.art/. Her work is incredibly powerful.

Claire! Hi! I just stumbled upon your substack and subscribed :) I used to listen to The Catholic Feminist podcast a few years ago during a season of life when I was thinking about Catholicism a lot (I'm still a Protestant), and womanhood as well. So good to rediscover you <3
