10 Book Recommendations from Catholic Feminist Readers
Part of our bookish series! 📚
In January, I was brainstorming a letter that was simply a booklist—ten books I thought you all would enjoy.
Then the list became 20. Well, 25 is really a better number, isn’t it? Doesn’t 30 seem sensible? What about—
It suddenly made much more sense to split the books up by categories, and thus our Year of Books was born. I had so much fun sending you our various booklists throughout 2023, and I hope your bedside tables are sagging with the weight of delicious words and your library card’s edges are starting to fade.
Our other booklists:
10 Spiritual Books Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Contemporary Novels Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Books on Social Issues Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Children’s Novels Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Books on Mary + Motherhood Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Books by Protestants Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Spiritual Memoirs Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
10 Books About World-Changing Women Every Catholic Feminist Should Read
As part of my role as a children’s book writer, I frequently visit classrooms to talk about the importance of books. I tell the fifth graders the same thing I now tell you: that books, like wise mentors or old friends, can remind us who we are and whose we are.
Books—fiction, memoir, travel, kid lit, graphic novels, theological studies—books don’t change the world. But reading changes you, and you can change the world.
To wrap up the year, I wanted to create a list of book recommendations from all of you. However, you gave me so many lovely ideas that I had to make two! This list was created by me scrolling the comments on our booklists, so this (and part 2, coming next month) is quite an eclectic, genre-bending collection. These are books that were either recommended multiple times *or* I saw it and thought WAIT, DUH! HOW COULD I FORGET THAT ONE?! I haven’t read every book on these lists, so I’m excited to dive into some of them next year!
So without further ado, here are Book Recommendations from Catholic Feminist Readers—Part 1!
